Story of growth
National Centre for Human Settlements and Environment (NCHSE) is a non-government voluntary organization registered under MP Societies Registration Act, 1973.
The organization came into existing since 19th June, 1984 under the dynamic leadership of Late Dr. M.N.Buch (Retd., IAS). Since its inception, NCHSE dedicated itself to the mission of participatory sustainable development, rapid social mobilization and significant economic development of the country especially in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
With its headquarter at Bhopal, M.P., the organization initiated its operations from its branch office at Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi and from its headquarter, Bhopal in the year 1985.
At end of the year 1988, it strengthened and organized its activities more in the State of Madhya Pradesh, of course, Chhattisgarh was the part of Madhya Pradesh.
Computers and information technology division was established in the year 1989. IT and GIS application in its rural and urban projects is also one of the key strengths of the organization.
NCHSE’s publication works which included newsletter, monographs, Vacham and occasional papers started in 1990.
The centre’s association in implementation of watershed activities is quite old starting in the year 1994.
Since 1997, NCHSE is one of the leading organization for implementation projects in the State of Madhya Pradesh. It has worked with a number of sponsors who have extended support for the cause of socio-economic development of the people both rural and urban areas. These included UNICEF, UN-HABITAT, DANIDA, ICCO, ILO, Telford Challenge, CASA, UNDP, WFP, World Bank, DFID, Govt. of India, Planning Commission, various State Governments, CAPART, Corporate Sector, etc.
NCHSE entered in the 21st century by making strides in the field of consumer grievances redressal.
